Dear Media Lima Dental Family:

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. We wanted to inform our wonderful community that we are planning our re-opening on Monday, June 8, 2020.

While many things have changed, one thing that has and will always remain the same is the commitment of Media Lima Dental – Pediatric and Family Dentistry to the safety of your family and our team. Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are in place so that when you receive care, it is both safe and comfortable. In addition to our regular infection control practices, we have implemented additional protocols according to ADA, OSHA and CDC guidelines. We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued.

You may not visually see some of the engineered controls that we have installed to exceed the CDC standards for pathogen mitigation to keep you and our staff safe, so we wanted to share them with you:

  1. Hospital grade HEPA filters in the HVAC system.

  2. HVAC “air scrubbers” to decontaminate the air using Ultra-violet Light Technology.

  3. iWAVE® Ionization Technology in the HVAC system to proactively eliminate pathogens (e.g., viruses, bacteria, mold), allergens, and particles in the air, creating a healthy environment without producing any harmful byproducts (no ozone creation).

  4. H13 (Medical Grade) True HEPA filtrations units will be in each operatory to assist air purification, filtration, and circulation.

You may also see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

  • Physical distancing, smart scheduling, and contact-less payment protocols to reduce person-to-person contact and paper handling. Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. This, however, might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment in the short-term.

  • Virtual waiting room and dedicated screening area to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time. This will mean that the patient’s companion will be asked to wait outside the office for the duration of their visit.  Exceptions to this are very young children (<4 yrs old), special needs patients, or elderly who require assistance.

  • ALL patients and staff will be required to wear a mask to reduce aerosol exposure.  Exceptions will be made for very young children (<2 yrs old) and those who cannot tolerate a mask for medical reasons.

  • Routine screening to minimize the chance of patients and dental office personnel being in the dental office after exhibiting COVID-19 signs or symptoms.  This includes routine infrared touchless thermometer temperature checks and comprehensive questions about signs, symptoms, and third party exposure history. Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask these screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

  • Respiratory protection protocols will require our staff to don extra PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including N95 respirators, face shields, gowns, and other protective gear, designed to keep everyone safe.

  • Increased ability to disinfect surfaces and eliminate airborne exposures through frequent application of virus-killing microbicides, strategic barrier placement, and thorough disinfection using hypochlorous acid (HOCL) – made by electrochemical activation of water and salt.  Hypochlorous acid is a powerful oxidant possessing 80-200 times the sanitizing power of chlorine bleach, yet completely non-toxic to people, pets or the planet. Daily fogging will be completed at the end of each day to disinfect the entire office once all patient appointments have been completed.

  • Community vigilance and contact tracing measures will be followed according to state and local guidelines.  We ask that you call us should any of the symptoms associated with a COVID-19 infection occur with any member of your household within the fourteen days after the appointment.

As we resume seeing patients, please do the following ON THE DAY of your appointment:

  • Be Prepared with Masks: Everyone is required to wear a mask while in our office at all times.

  • Use Restroom at Home: We ask that you and/or your child use the restroom at home just before coming for your appointment.

  • Brush and Floss at Home: We ask that you and/or your child brush and floss at home before coming to the appointment.

  • Please Be On Time: We have carefully structured our schedule to follow social distancing guidelines. Because of this, it is extremely important for our patients to be on time as we will have you complete our COVID-19 screening and temperature check upon arrival. We ask for you to kindly call the office from your car once you have arrived and we will let you know when we are ready to have you enter the building.

  • Parents and Companions Wait Outside: During your child or companion’s appointment, we kindly ask that you wait in your vehicle or outside the office to follow social distancing guidelines.  For very young children (<4 yrs old), only 1 parent/guardian will be allowed back and you will be required to wear a mask. When we are ready for your child or companion, we will text or call you with instructions to enter the office. When your child or companion has completed their appointment, we will text or call you to go over their appointment and for their pick-up.

  • Sanitize Hands Upon Entry: All patients will be asked to use hand sanitizer as soon as they enter the office.

Finally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Dental Association (ADA) has advised us to use the dental code D1999 to report any additional Biosafety and PPE measures we have implemented for the protection of our patients. You will be seeing this code in all future treatment plans. If you have any questions regarding this, please feel free to ask our administrative staff and they will be happy to address any of your questions.

You may start calling the office to reschedule your appointments, but we have also been tracking missed appointments and are working diligently to get them rescheduled. We appreciate everyone’s understanding as recommendations are changing on a daily basis.

If there are any questions or concerns, you may call (610) 892-9280 or email medialimadental@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please also visit
