The Media Lima Dental Savings Plan

We offer a yearly membership plan for children, adults, and seniors. For one low annual membership fee,  plans include:

• Two professional cleanings
• Two regular examinations
• 2-4 routine bite wing x-rays, once per year

The plan also includes two fluoride treatments for children and additional savings on most restorative dental procedures. The dental savings plan ensures that you see your dentist in Media every six months, protecting your smile from problems like tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease. Many of our patients choose to take advantage of it.

The Dental Savings Plan Is Not Dental Insurance

Since the Media Lima Dental savings plan is not dental insurance, here are the things you won't have to deal with:

• Waiting periods on treatment procedures you need
• Limitations on the types of treatment procedures you can have
• Exclusions on certain types of treatments or because of preexisting conditions
• Yearly maximums
• Annual deductibles
• Copays

Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a tool Dr. John might use to stop tooth decay from moving further into your child's tooth without them having to have a dental filling.

SDF comprises silver, which kills decay and bacteria that damage the tooth, and fluoride, which protects teeth against decay. It's a clear liquid that Dr. John applies to the decayed tooth to kill the bacteria causing the decay while preserving your child's natural tooth. 

Since they don't have to endure the injections and anesthesia involved in getting a dental filling, treatment with SDF is much easier for some children, especially if they might have anxiety about dental procedures or a hard time sitting for long periods to complete a procedure.

The downside of SDF is that it leaves a black stain in the area of tooth decay, which can mar the appearance of your child's tooth. However, this treatment can still be ideal for eliminating tooth decay in a primary (baby) tooth since it will eventually fall out.

Laughing Gas

Laughing gas, also called nitrous oxide, is a great option to help anxious children feel more comfortable during dental procedures. When children inhale laughing gas, it works quickly to help them feel calm and at ease. Even better, the effects of laughing gas go away once we remove the mask delivering it, so your little one won't experience lingering side effects that interfere with their normal daily activities.

Hospital Dentistry

Hospital dentistry might be a good solution for children with severe anxiety, special medical needs, or a lot of complex treatment procedures to complete.

This is where we coordinate time at a nearby hospital so Dr. John can complete your child's dental procedures while they're under general anesthesia that's constantly monitored and adjusted for their specific needs.

Children feel like they're "sleeping" during hospital dentistry, and their dental treatment is completed when they wake up.
