Technology

Media Lima Dental Pediatric & Family Dentistry is equipped with state-of-the-art technology designed to make our patient's experience at our dental office as pleasant and stress-free as possible. From computer-guided implant surgeries to digital scanners that take the mess out of taking impressions of our patient's teeth, we use our technology to make dental procedures more comfortable and efficient.

Read on to learn more about the technology you'll find at our Media dental office.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays allow us to acquire a much clearer picture than the traditional films from the past with less of an environmental footprint since we don't need chemicals to develop the images. In addition, the images are immediately available for our dentists and patients to review, which allows for quicker diagnosis of concerns and prompt planning for treatment.

We have three different-sized x-ray sensors to fit any mouth comfortably.

Digital x-rays also benefit our patients since they emit 80 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays.

Digital Impressions

If you've ever had to have a messy, gooey impression, you'll truly appreciate digital impressions! Now we can take an imprint of your teeth just by scanning them, so you don't have to endure the discomfort of impression material filling your mouth.

We can quickly and comfortably capture these images and transfer them or send them to dental labs or other providers.

CBCT Cone Beam Technology & Panorex

Our CBCT cone beam technology provides 3-D images of your teeth, roots, jawbone, and facial structure. These images help Dr. Sung plan dental implant placement surgeries ahead of time and create a computer-aided guide that he uses during the surgical procedure to pinpoint exact placement, which achieves a successful outcome. Computer-aided surgery allows for better precision and accuracy, a more straightforward procedure, and an accelerated healing process.

We can also use these images to diagnose other problems like jaw joint (TMJ) dysfunction.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide, also called "laughing gas," is a gentle and mild sedative when it's inhaled. It's safe for both adults and children, so our dentists use it to help patients with mild anxiety feel at ease and relaxed during dental procedures.

Nitrous oxide works effectively and quickly to help you feel at ease during treatment and leaves your system quickly afterward with no extra side effects. As a result, it's safe for you to drive later and for children to return to school or their everyday activities.

Laser Cavity Detection

We use dental lasers for all kinds of procedures in dentistry, but one is to detect tooth decay as early as possible. Laser cavity detection allows us to catch decay and cavities as early as possible when they're the easiest to treat.

Early detection of dental problems saves you time and money!

Intraoral Camera

Imagine seeing and understanding your teeth and mouth the way your dentist does. Well, now you can with our intraoral camera!

This little, pen-sized camera fits inside your mouth and provides us with full-color photos of your teeth, gums, and other soft tissues. When we can share those images with you, it's much easier to understand why you might benefit from certain dental procedures. After all, seeing is understanding and believing!

UltraDent VALO Light

As with all dentistry, we strive to make your restorations as long-lasting as possible, which is why we have chosen the UltraDental VALO curing light. This curing light hardens composite fillings and bonding faster and at a greater depth than traditional curing lights so that you can enjoy a long-lasting smile and efficient treatment every time.

Glo Science

Glo stands for "guided light optics," and the GLO Brilliant Advanced White Smile Teeth Whitening Device combines light and heat to enhance the tooth whitening process without causing the sensitivity some patients experience.

Patients can safely use the Glo system at home and typically achieve exceptional results quickly, sometimes up to five shades lighter after only one treatment.

Icon

Icon is an infiltration therapy that removes white spots on your teeth noninvasively. White spots that discolor teeth can result from enamel defects, insipient tooth decay, or fluorosis.

Infiltration therapy is a gentle process that fills your tooth with a liquid resin material called Icon. We prepare your tooth for treatment with an etching gel and apply Icon to the affected area. Icon reflects light like your natural tooth, so it blends seamlessly with your tooth's natural shade.
